FALL TERM 2009

September 2 - 4  

  • Mandatory Orientation Week for First year students only

September 8 - 18

  • Course Change Period (upper years only - in person or on-line)
  • Students who want to register for a directed research project for the Fall Term 2009 must obtain a Request to Register for Directed Research Form (green form) from the Academic Affairs Office (FTX 237) and have it signed by the supervising faculty member and returned to the Academic Affairs Office before September 18.

JANUARY TERM 2010

January 4

  • Courses begin (all students, all years) 

January 4 - 6

  • Course Change Period (upper years only - in person or on-line)
  • Students who want to register for a directed research project for January Tern2010 must obtain a Request to Register for Directed Research Form (green form) from the Academic Affairs Office (FTX 237) and have it signed by a full-time faculty member and returned to the Academic Affairs Office by January 6.  (Anyone registering for a Directed Research during the January Term must be supervised by a full-time faculty member, or by a supervisor approved by the Assistant Dean, and must remain in residence during the three weeks of the term).

January 12

January 14 - 15

  • First Year Thematic Course Registration period (First year English program only). 
    First year students will register for one of eight optional first year electives on January 14 and 15.  Students must submit a Registration form and indicate the order of preference for each section.  The Thematic Course Registration Form will be available online or at the Academic Affairs Office.  We will make every effort to accommodate individual preference but as all courses are subject to a maximum enrolment, we can make no guarantees.  Once assigned to the thematic elective, students WILL NOT be permitted to change. Registration will be processed during the week of January 18th.

 January 15

  • Fall Term 2009 final grades will be approved by the Faculty Council and released via Infoweb.
  • First year mid-term grades will be posted on Virtual Campus

January 18

  • Selection of Satisfactory / Non-Satisfactory (= failure) Method of Evaluation (See details under January Term Important Information Section). Please note that the Satisfactory / Non-Satisfactory (= failure) evaluation only applies for January term courses or supervised directed research. Internships are already graded on a Satisfactory / Non-Satisfactory (= failure) basis. Students registered in a Competitive moot cannot apply for a Satisfactory / Non-Satisfactory (= failure). (Students from Michigan State University College of Law and Washington College of Law should check with their home University to see if they can opt for this method of evaluation).

January 20

  • Last day of classes (upper years only)

January 21

  • Pre-exam Study Break (upper years only)

January 22

  • Last day of classes (first year students only)
  • Examination period (upper years only)
  • All papers and directed research are due by no later than 4:30 p.m. unless otherwise specified by the Faculty or Professor (except for 4 credit January Term courses).

January 25 - 29

  • Study Break for all Common Law students
  • Special and deferred exam period

WINTER TERM 2010

February 1

  • Last day for on-line changes until midnight (upper years only)
  • Courses begin (all years)

February 1 - 5

  • Course Change Period (upper years only - in person only (Rabaska not available February 2 to 5)).  Add-drop procedures will be available on-line in January 2010. Details to follow.

February 5

  • Students who want to register for a directed research project for Winter Term 2010 must obtain a Request to Register for Directed Research Form (green form) from the Academic Affairs Office (FTX 237) and have it signed by the supervising faculty member and returned to the Academic Affairs Office by February 5.

February 12

  • January Term 2010 grades will be approved by the Faculty Council and released via Infoweb

February 15

  • Family Day (offices are closed, no classes)

February 26

March 1

  • Deadline date for graduating students to register on-line for their degree (via Infoweb)

April 2 - 5

  • Easter Holiday (offices are closed)

April 12

  • Last day of classes (all years)

April 13 - 14

  • Pre Exam Study Break

April 15 - 30

  • Examination Period

May 14

  • Winter Term 2010 final grades will be approved by the Faculty Council and released via Infoweb.

July 12 - 16
