REGISTRATION DATES

FALL TERM 2011

September 1st, 2nd and September 6th

  • Classes begin (all students, all years)

September 7 - 21

  • Course Change Period (upper years only - in person or on-line)
  • Students who want to register for a directed research project for the Fall Term 2011 must obtain a Request to Register for Directed Research Form (green form) from the Academic Affairs Office (FTX 237) and have it signed by the supervising faculty member and returned to the Academic Affairs Office before September 21.

  • Thanksgiving Day (offices are closed, no classes)

  • Last day to withdraw from a course without reimbursement and without change of classification***
    ***Withdrawal from a course after the date indicated will appear as a failure on the transcript.

December 7

  • Last day of classes (all students, all years) 
  • IMPORTANT: Students must follow their Monday course scheduling.
    December 7, 2011 - Students must follow their Monday course schedule on Wednesday, December 7, 2011. Courses normally held on Wednesday, December 7, will not be held. This adjustment applies to all courses, without exception.

  • All papers and directed research projects are due by no later than 4:00pm, unless otherwise specified by the Faculty of Professor.

December 23 - January 2

  • Holiday Season (Offices are closed)

JANUARY TERM 2012

January 3

  • Courses begin (all students, all years) 

January 3 - 5 

  • Course Change Period (upper years only - in person or on-line)
  • Students who want to register for a directed research project for January Term 2012 must obtain a Request to Register for Directed Research Form (green form) from the Academic Affairs Office (FTX 237) and have it signed by a full-time faculty member and returned to the Academic Affairs Office by January 5.  (Anyone registering for a Directed Research during the January Term must be supervised by a full-time faculty member, or by a supervisor approved by the Manager of Academic Affairs, and must remain in residence during the three weeks of the term).

  • Fall Term 2011 final grades will be approved by the Faculty Council and released via Infoweb.
  • First year mid-term grades will be posted on Virtual Campus

January 18

  • Selection of Satisfactory / Non-Satisfactory (= failure) Method of Evaluation (See details under January Term Important Information Section). Please note that the Satisfactory / Non-Satisfactory (= failure) evaluation only applies for January term courses or supervised directed research. Internships are already graded on a Satisfactory / Non-Satisfactory (= failure) basis. Students registered in a Competitive moot cannot apply for a Satisfactory / Non-Satisfactory (= failure). (Students from Michigan State University College of Law and Washington College of Law should check with their home University to see if they can opt for this method of evaluation).

January 19  

  • First year students will register for one of twelve thematic courses given during the Winter Term.  Registration takes place by submitting a Registration Form to the Academic Affairs Office.  Students will use rank the thematic courses in order of preference with 1 being their first choice. The academic office will attempt to assign students to one of their high priority choices, subject to course enrollment limits. Course assignments are final.  Students can see their course assignments on their confirmation of registration on uoZone.

  • Last day of classes (upper years only)

January 20

  • Pre-exam Study Break (upper years only)
  • Last day of classes (first year student only) 

January 23

  • Examination period (upper years only)
  • All papers and directed research are due by no later than 4:00 p.m. unless otherwise specified by the Faculty or Professor (except for 4-credit January Term courses).

January 24 - 30

  • Study Break for all Common Law students
  • Special and deferred exam period

WINTER TERM 2012

January 31

  • Courses begin (all years)

January 31 - February 7

  • Course Change Period (upper years only).  

February 7

  • Students who want to register for a directed research project for Winter Term 2012 must obtain a Request to Register for Directed Research Form (green form) from the Academic Affairs Office (FTX 237) and have it signed by the supervising faculty member and returned to the Academic Affairs Office by February 7.

February 10

  • January Term 2012 grades will be approved by the Faculty Council and released via Infoweb

February 20

  • Family Day (offices are closed, no classes)

February 21

  • IMPORTANT: Students must follow their Monday course scheduling.
    February 21, 2012 - Students must follow their Monday course schedule on Tuesday February 21, 2012. Courses normally held on Tuesday, February 21, will not be held. This adjustment applies to all CML courses, without exception.

February 27

  • Completed application deadline for Michigan State University or American University must be submitted to the Academic Affaires Office (FTX237).

February 29

  • Annual career Day - Student Services office (all classes will be cancelled from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

March 16

May 8
