2012 - 2013 Academic Year

 

The 2012-2013 Important Date and Deadlines published by the University of Ottawa including the deadlines to drop courses (last day to delete a course/activity and obtain a 100%, last day to withdraw from a course/activity with no financial credit , etc.) can be found here .

 

SUMMER 2012

 

April 4 

  • Beginning of summer courses registration
  • CML2741 : Philosophie du droit (students in the Programme de droit canadien only)
  • Student-Proposed Summer Internship
  • Students who want to register for a directed research project at the summer 2012 must obtain a Directed Research (green form) from the Academic Affairs Office (FTX 237) and have it signed by the supervising faculty member and returned to the Academic Affairs Office by May 2.

May 4 

  • Last day for registration without late registration fees

May 16

  • Last day for to delete a course and obtain a 100% financial credit (students in the Programme de droit canadien only)

August 17

  • All directed research papers are due by no later than 3:00 p.m. in the Faculty drop box (unless otherwise specified the Faculty or the Professor).


FALL TERM 2012


September 3

  • Course Change Period (upper years only - in person or on-line)

  • Last day for changes to course selection
  • Students who want to register for a directed research project for the Fall Term 2012 must obtain a  Directed Research Form (green form also available at the Academic Affairs Office) and have it signed by the supervising faculty member and returned to the Academic Affairs Office (FTX237) before September 19.

September 28

  • Last day to delete a course/activity and obtain a 100% financial credit.

October 8

  • Thanksgiving Day (University is closed. No classes.)

  • Fall Convocation (date to be determined by the Registrar’s Office). More information can be found here.

  • IMPORTANT: Students must follow their Monday course scheduling.
  • On Wednesday, December 5, 2012, students must follow their Monday course schedule. Courses normally held on Wednesday, December 5, will not be held. This adjustment applies to all courses, without exception.

  • First year mid-term grades will be posted on Virtual Campus

  • Last day for changes to course selection
  • Students who want to register for a directed research project for January Term 2013 must obtain a  Directed Research Form (green form also available at the Academic Affairs Office) and have it signed by the supervising faculty member and returned to the Academic Affairs Office (FTX237)  by January 7th(Anyone registering for a Directed Research during the January Term must be supervised by a full-time faculty member, or by a supervisor approved by Academic Affairs, and must remain in residence during the three weeks of the term).

  • Last day to delete a course/activity and obtain a 100% financial credit for the January 2013 term

  • Selection of Satisfactory / Non-Satisfactory (= failure) Method of Evaluation (See details under January Term Important Information Section). Please note that the Satisfactory / Non-Satisfactory (= failure) evaluation only applies for January term courses or supervised directed research. Internships are already graded on a Satisfactory / Non-Satisfactory (= failure) basis. Students registered in a Competitive moot cannot apply for a Satisfactory / Non-Satisfactory (= failure). (Students from Michigan State University College of Law and Washington College of Law should check with their home University to see if they can opt for this method of evaluation).

  • Students who want to register for a directed research project for Winter Term 2013 must obtain a  Directed Research Form (green form also available at the Academic Affairs Office) and have it signed by the supervising faculty member and returned to the Academic Affairs Office (FTX237) by February 7.

February 8 

  • January Term 2013 grades will be approved by the Faculty Council and released via Infoweb

February 18   

  • Family Day (University is closed. No classes.)

February 19

  • Last day to delete a course/activity and obtain a 100% financial credit for the Winter 2013 term

February 21

  • IMPORTANT: Students must follow their Monday course scheduling.
  • On Thursday February 21, 2013, students must follow their Monday course schedule. Courses normally held on Thursday, February 21, will not be held. This adjustment applies to all courses, without exception.

February 28

March 6

  • Career Day (All classes are cancelled between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

March 15

  • Last day to withdraw from a course/activity with no financial credit

March 29 - April 1

  • Easter Holiday (University is closed. No exams.)

March 31

  • Convocation (Request for Diploma)
  • In order to receive your diploma, you must complete and submit the Registration for Degree and Request for Diploma form by March 31. Indicate on the form if you will be attending your Convocation ceremony. The form is accessible via uoZone (click on InfoWeb, then click on Services and Request to graduate).

April 9

  • Last day of classes (all students, all years)
  • IMPORTANT: Students must follow their Friday course scheduling.
  • On Tuesday, April 9, 2013, students must follow their Friday course schedule. Courses normally held on Tuesday, April 9, will not be held. This adjustment applies to all courses, without exception.

April 10

  • Last day to submit Option forms approved by option coordinators
