Heidi N. Ruppert
B.A. (Carleton), LL.B. (Ottawa), of the Bar of Ontario, Associate Professor
Heidi obtained her Bachelor of Arts with Honours from Carleton University in 1986. She graduated Cum Laude from the University of Ottawa with an LL.B. in 1991 and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1993. Her continuing education since her call to the Bar has included many seminars and workshops in Canada and the US focussed on the emergence of conflict, negotiation, partnering, mediation and ADR (alternative dispute resolution).
Heidi carries on a full time family law and mediation practice. She is a roster mediator in civil and family matters for the Superior Court of Justice in Ontario. Heidi is also a principal and shareholder of MDR Associates Conflict Resolution Inc which is an ADR firm that is dedicated to providing ADR services including training.
In addition to her law and mediation practice, Heidi is currently a part time associate professor at the University of Ottawa Law School teaching mediation, ADR and interviewing, counselling and negotiation and she has taught ADR for the Law Society of Upper Canada Bar Admission Course. Heidi is a regular contributor to the Mediation Week at University of Ottawa Common Law Section.
Heidi has considerable experience as a trainer and coach, and has developed and delivered, numerous training seminars and workshops in the area of conflict and conflict resolution. Heidi participated on a team that designed, developed and delivered the training for family lawyers who wish to practice collaborative family law in Ottawa.
Heidi is an active board member with the Ontario Association for Family Mediation and was the president of the Ottawa Chapter from 1996 to 1998. Heidi has received her designation as an Accredited Family Mediator from the Ontario Association of Family Mediation.
Heidi is one of three principals of UFC Mediation Professionals Inc. providing information and mediation services for the Family Courts in Ottawa, Brockville and Cornwall under exclusive contract with the Attorney General of Ontario.
