Laird Rasmussen graduated from Queen’s University with an LLB in 1964 and was called to the Bar of Ontario in March of 1966.

He practiced law in the City of Ottawa from March of 1966 until the end of December 2005 at which time he retired from the active practice of law.

During his years of practice he focused on real property and general commercial law. In the real property field he acted for purchasers, vendors, developers, lessors, lessees and lenders. He has on many occasions been called upon to provide an opinion with respect to the standard of care of solicitors in real property matters.

Throughout his years of practice Mr. Rasmussen participated in the preparation and delivery of numerous Continuing Education Programs presented by the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Canadian Bar Association. He was for many years the senior instructor in the Real Estate and Landlord and Tenant section of the Bar Admission Course presented in Ottawa. He has for many years been, and continues to be, a part time professor at the University of Ottawa law school teaching a 3 credit course in the law of mortgages.

In January 2006 Mr. Rasmussen received the Ontario Bar Association award for excellence in real estate.
