In Memoriam: David Borges (‘99)
The Faculty of Law is very saddened to learn that David Borges ('99) passed away suddenly on April 02, 2012 at the age of 42.
Those who remember David while he was at the Faculty can attest to his kind personality, motivating leadership and positive impact to the Faculty. David was instrumental in starting several Faculty clubs, was a member of the winning Laskin moot team, served as research assistant to faculty members, and volunteered on various colloquiums and intra-university organizations.
David will be greatly missed by his wife, Gilda Borges (nee Chaves), and their four-month old daughter, Sophie Ann, as well as by his loving parents, Venilde and Antonio Vicente, and his cherished brother, Paul Borges ('00).
David was a partner with Miller Thomson LLP in Waterloo and a well-respected member of his community. He was very active in several community organizations and gave much of his time to many causes.
Having also graduated from the University of Ottawa in 1993 with a degree in Criminology and in 1994 with a degree in Public Policy and Management, David was also extremely proud to be an alumni of the University of Ottawa.
A trust for the benefit of David’s infant daughter, Sophie Ann, and his wife, Gilda, has been created. Donations may be made to the Sophie and Gilda Borges Family Trust at any Bank of Montreal branch (Account #: 2423 3993-935).
