Professor St. Lewis to speak at Equal Voice’s National Summit
On March 10, 2011, Professor Joanne St. Lewis will participate in Equal Voice’s National Summit, "Leveraging Women’s Leadership for the 21st Century – Changing the Game." The event marks the tenth anniversary of Equal Voice and the global centenary of International Women’s Day.
Prof. St. Lewis will take part in a panel discussion entitled, "Are Women Framed to Falter? Reflections on the Media: The Rise and Fall of Female Politicians." Her panel will include Susan Delacourt, senior writer with the Toronto Star, Steve Paikin, anchor of the TVO show The Agenda and Laura Peck, vice-president of McLoughlin Media.
Through the lens of news media veterans and critics, the panel will examine the role and impact of the media’s portrayal and coverage of female politicians. The panel will also attempt to delineate some of the key opportunities and challenges for women who are thrust into the limelight as they serve in elected office or seek to do so.
The panel discussion will take place on Thursday March 10, 2011 from 10:45 – 11:50 a.m. in the Main Ballroom at the Government Conference Centre, 2 Rideau Street, Ottawa, Ontario. Should you require additional information, please contact Summit Coordinator Denise Siele at dsiele@rogers.com.
