The Research Office
Faculty research is a core activity of the Common Law Section. Faculty members are involved individually and through a variety of networks in a wide range of research activities. Each year Common Law Section professors write dozens of journal articles and books, some attracting national and international recognition. Faculty members present their work at conferences around the globe, and engage in community outreach as well as a variety of other forms of research dissemination.
Research in the Common Law Section is supported by the Research Office, consisting of the Vice-Dean Research, Adam Dodek, and the Research Facilitator, Hélène Dragatsi (who is also the Research Facilitator for Civil Law). The role of the Research Office is to encourage and support the successful engagement of Common Law faculty in research. Its specific responsibilities include support for faculty applying for research related funding, submissions for awards for faculty related to research, Canada Research Chair (CRC) nominations and renewals, managing requests for conference travel funds, and participating in the selection of internal faculty research awards such as for research fellowship funds granted by the Law Foundation of Ontario's annual comprehensive grant to the Comon Law Section.
