Stéphane Caron is a partner in Gowlings' Ottawa office, practising in the area of intellectual property law with an emphasis on copyright, trade-marks, and related Internet content issues. His practice includes the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights as well as prosecution, ownership, transfer and clearance of rights, portfolio management and business related aspects of copyright and trade-mark law.
Fully bilingual, Stéphane has been practicing exclusively in intellectual property for 12 years. A member of the Gowlings Intellectual Property Group since 1996, he became chair of Gowlings' Copyright National Practice Group in 2006. He represents clients before the Federal Court of Canada, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Trade-mark Opposition Board.
Stéphane teaches intellectual property law at the University of Ottawa and lectures on legal issues relating to copyright, trade-marks and electronic commerce.
