Information:

B. Com. (Ottawa), École Supérieure de Commerce de Paris (France), LL.B. (Ottawa), of the Bar of Ontario, Assistant Dean

Professor Émard-Chabot joined the Faculty in 2001. After completing his studies, he taught various law courses at the collegiate level during two years. A long-time community activist, he was then elected to Ottawa City Council where he served two consecutive terms. As Councillor, he not only responded to the needs of a very diverse ward, but he was also a member of many organizations (e.g. Crime Prevention Council, Lowertown Youth Centre), and Chair of two Standing Committees of Council, including the License Committee, an administrative tribunal adjudicating disputes between City staff and persons operating businesses licensed by the City.

Professor Émard-Chabot then joined the Ottawa law firm Soloway, Wright where he mainly practiced municipal law until his arrival at the Faculty. A local businessman, Professor Émard-Chabot also contributes much of his time to volunteer organizations. He served as Chair of the Board of the Ottawa Community Housing Corporation (OCHC owns over 14,600 social housing units in Ottawa) from 2000 to 2004. He is currently a regular radio columnist on municipal affairs in Ottawa for Radio-Canada. Professor Émard-Chabot teaches commercial and municipal law.
