Tanya Weston’s practice focuses mainly on patent and regulatory matters related to pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device patents and applications. Tanya is a founding member of the firm’s Regulatory Working Group and regularly advises clients on issues relating to regulatory approval, market exclusivity and the pricing and reimbursement of pharmaceuticals and biologics.
Tanya is a regular guest lecturer at the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Common Law, on issues related to the Patented Medicines Price Review Board, Canada’s Access to Medicines Regime and the listing and interchangeability of drug products at the provincial and territorial level as part of a larger course on intellectual property law as it relates to biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.
Prior to joining MBM, Tanya worked at Health Canada in various regulatory roles related to the application, enforcement and amendment of the Food & Drug Regulations. Tanya also worked at a pharmaceutical research unit in the United Kingdom, where she conducted drug safety and efficacy studies.
Tanya is a Registered Canadian Trade-mark Agent.
