Professor Donald McRae was featured on a radio documentary entitled “Sharing the Shelf” on May 1, 2009 on CBC’s “The Current.” The documentary, prepared by Marie Wadden, discusses the claim that France is expected to make by May 13, 2009 to a larger portion of the continental shelf off the east coast of Canada. Part of this shelf may be rich in oil and natural gas reserves which could have a profound effect on the 6500 people of St. Pierre and Miquelon, two small islands and French territory off the coast of Newfoundland.
Prof. McRae comments on this claim to extend beyond the 200-mile exclusive economic zone.
